Monster Lodestone Video
Here's the video that I wasn't able to show you in class today.

Some questions to think about as you watch the video:

  • What is a lodestone?
  • What is a lodestone made up of?
  • What is the properties of a lodestone?
  • What do you observe as the objects were brought near to the lodestone?

  1. A lodestone is a naturally magnetized piece of the mineral magnetite.Magnetite is a form of iron oxide. When the stone has a particular crystalline structure and chemical composition, it has the potential to become magnetized

  3. I think a lodestone is a piece of rock which can attract metal objects.
I think lodestones are also made up of irons.
The objects were attracted to the lodestone so they immediately get stuck on the lodestone.

  5. A lodestone is a natural magnet. The magnetic properties have to do with changes to the molecular structure.
Lodestone attracts iron - nails, pins, any bit of iron you're got lying around.
