[29/2] FTGP HW & Maths HW

FTGP Homework
We have discussed Hendri's Decision and his options using the SODAS approach. 
Here's a quick review of his case and a summary of the options he could take.


Your task is to study Scenario 1 & complete pg 26-27 using the SODAS approach (Situation, Options, Disadvantages, Advantages and Solution)
This is due tomorrow, 1 Mar.



Maths Homework
Complete pg 93-96.
Q4(a) & (b) uses Method 2 (Add on from 5 groups of 7)
Q4(c) & (d) uses Method 3 (Subtract from 10 groups of 7)
Start memorising your 6 and 7 timetable. You will need to be able to say the answer within 3 seconds. (Fast & Accurate)
I'll be testing you everyday until we complete this Chapter by week 10.

[23/2] Diversity Activity Book HW

Pupils whose bread has no mould observed yet...

  • Check if the bread has sufficient moisture. (If no water was added so far, you can sprinkle 1 tablespoon of water on it.)
  • Observe the mould for a few more days.

Pupils whose bread has mould...

  • You may discard the bread properly if you've observed enough.
  • You may observe the bread for more patches of mould. (esp. different colours and sizes)
Pupils' Observations on Toasted Bread 
  • Some pupils observed a little mould growing. Why? Is there a little presence of water in the toasted bread? Is the water fully removed after toasting?
  • Most pupils observed no mould growing at all. How did the toasted bread feel like? Was it toasted sufficiently until it was hard? Does the toasted bread feels dry?

Remember the following rules in drawing the models:
  • Identify the comparing items.
  • Identify the "more than" or "less than"
  • Use Straight Lines and Dotted Lines in the model.
  • Labels of items/names on the left side of the model.
  • Numbers to be written outside the model. 
  • Show the "?" for what you need to find from the question.

[18/2] Diversity Activity Book + Bread Mould Experiment

Pg 14 Corrections
Complete the corrections on your own.

Common Mistake - Pupils stated the similarity and difference as given in the question.
However, the question is asking for "another similarity/difference". You will need to think of a similarity or difference not mentioned in the question.

E.g. Bears flowers? Flowering Plant? Reproduce by seed / spores?


Bread Mould Experiment (Activity 6) - pg 15-16

For pupils who have a toaster at home:
  • Conduct an experiment using 2 set-ups: Moist Bread and Toasted Bread
  • Pour equal amount of water on both bread (e.g. 2 tablespoon of water on each bread)
  • Leave the 2 set-ups in the same location (e.g. A warm place in the cupboard)
  • Duration of experiment: 5 days
For pupils who do not have a toaster at home: (You will do the toasted bread observations next Tuesday after your classmates bring along their set-ups and share with the class.)
  • Conduct an experiment using 1 set-up: Moist Bread 
  • Pour 2 tablespoon of water on the bread
  • Leave the bread in a warm place in the cupboard
  • Duration of experiment: 5 days
Record your observations in the table on pg 16
  • Count how many patches?
  • What is the colour of the patch?
  • What is the size of the patch?
  • You may touch the patch and describe how it feels.
Answer questions 1-5 on pg 16

  • You may refer to your textbook & the KWL table on Fungi & Bacteria, which we have done in class today to help you along.

All above tasks are due next Tuesday. 
Bring along your Moist Bread & Toasted Bread on Tuesday for further discussion.

[11/2] Science NSB - Classifying Plants

We have disscussed the following today:

  • Flowering vs Non-flowering plants
  • Land vs Water plants
  • Flowers grow in clusters vs Flowers grow singly
  • Floating vs Partially Submerged vs Fully Submerged plants
  • Carnivorous vs Non-Carnivorous plants.
  • Grows on a tree vs Grows on the ground vs Grows on rocks vs Grows on buildings vs Grows on poor soil.
Your task
Complete a classification diagram to show the many different way that plants can be classified.
  • Add in an many details as you can. 
  • You may even put in examples of plants that belong to these categories.
  • Write down 5 sentences using the keywords that you've used in the classification diagram.
  • Your 5 sentences must be related to the Science concepts for Plants or be able to Write down the similarities or differences between the various plants.
This task is due tomorrow, 12 Feb  /   or Monday, 15 Feb.

  • We have read 3 books on plants so far. (Carnivorous Plants & Rainforest)
  • You're supposed to complete a 1 page drawing on your idea of Plants. 
  • Be Creative. Any types of plants that you know. You can even draw other plants that you know but not discussed in class.)
  • Label the parts of the plant as well as the type of plants and any animals that you're drawing inside. 
  • Used up the empty spaces in the page as much as you can.
  • You may colour your drawings.
  • This is due next Thurs, 11 Feb.
